The last few days have been a whirlwind exhibition of why I should never, under any circumstances, be allowed to plan an itinerary. Thursday morning I woke up in Cagayan de Oro. In the following 72 hours I took a plane to Manila, a plane to Tacloban, a bus to Ormoc, a ferry to Cebu, and finally a ferry to Dumaguete, a combined total of more than a day in transit that has left me approximately 100 miles from where I started:
Right now I’m waiting in the OceanJet terminal in Cebu to start the trip to Dumaguete. The safety presentation on my last ferry started with a long prayer. It must have worked, because we made it in one piece!
