The center of downtown Cagayan de Oro is called Divisoria, a long, thin plaza that holds monuments to war heroes and which, at night, transforms into an enormous second-hand street market. A lot of the goods come from international donations. For example, I found this surveying bag from Korea:
It used to belong to Laura:
Live performances are held most nights of the week. Yesterday I stood in front of a bank of chairs where locals were getting head massages from people dressed as nurses and I listened to a cover band sing ‘Alone’ by Celine Dion. “Powerful!” exclaimed the emcee once the piece was finished, and everyone in the plaza applauded. The next song was a traditional Filipino favorite. I took that as my cue to return to the hotel and write up field notes from the day.

Maybe they could have people dressed as psychologists who would listen to you and nod their heads sympathetically.
ReplyDeleteYou could use that bag to show the angry lady at the gas station that you are really Canadian
