On the hunt for a bath towel, I asked my guide where the nearest department store was. He pointed me to Gaisano Mall, located on the edge of downtown.
“But there’s a monster there!” He added. “It’s a giant serpent that belongs to the owner of the mall and brings them good luck. To survive it must eat humans. One of the stalls in one of the bathrooms has a trapdoor, and once a month a naughty child disappears.
“But don’t worry,” he added, seeing my stricken look. “It’s just an urban legend.”
Gaisano Mall, the Hogwarts of the Philippines! I saw no serpents but plenty of naughty children.

It makes you wonder : is "Gaisano" Tagalog for "Gusano"?
ReplyDeleteYou gotta realize, you're just looking at the survivors, the ones that fought back. The vulnerable naughty children became monster snacks.
