Little Distractions

One thing I have noticed after five weeks of research is that moneylenders tend to have adorable little dogs.  Three of the four participants in my text message tracking program in Cagayan de Oro had dogs, a collection of animals that included one pregnant shih-tzu that would lie on her back and wait for someone to pet her and one mutt that would howl at me until I let him lick my shoelace.  Moneylenders are the same here in Dumaguete; during our first interview this morning my translator had to clear her throat a few times before I realized we had all been sitting in silence while I watched two tiny white puppies wrestle each other.  I have yet to establish causal nature to the trend.

Disappointingly, I have no pictures.  It was threatening to rain today so I left my camera (my sister’s camera) at home.

  1. Do any of the dogs have fashionable outfits?

  2. I second that - I really miss Dog-Gone Chic! (Though I'm happy you're posting on your blog again)
